Butter Shortbreads

special kind of flour but the regular kind), castor sugar and butter. If

You can’t add them in any amount you feel like. The ratio is 1:2:3. If
you are using 3 parts of sugar then you will have to add six parts of
butter and nine parts of flour.

Preparing the appetizing shortbreads:
At first you have to mix the flour and the sugar. Rub the butter gently
into the mixture instead of mixing it. There should be a bowl full of
warm water beside you. The mixture has to be kneaded with warm hands. So
you can dip in your hands every time in that bowl to make your hands
warm. You cannot be impatient at this stage. The kneading of the mixture
is the most important thing in the whole process. Make sure the mixture
becomes smooth. If you feel bored then switch on the television while
you do it. But don’t stop mixing it. The dough shouldn’t have any
cracks. Cracks give an ugly appearance to the finished product.
Once you are through with the kneading thing then you can divide the
dough in two equal parts. After this take out your favorite cake tin.
You can use heart shaped cake tins or star shaped cake tins. Use any
shape you prefer but do remember to grease the tin with a little butter.
Put the dough into the cake tin and flute the edges using your hand. You
need to prick the surface of the dough with a pin or fork. If you have
opted for a round shaped cake tin then mark the dough in six or eight
sections. After you finish all this, add some granulated sugar on top of
the dough.

It needs to be baked at 160 degrees for sometime depending on the amount
you are preparing. The time varies between thirty to forty minutes. You
will know that your shortbreads are cooked when they will start to
appear brown and risen. Cut them through the marked sections. Don’t burn
your fingers while you do this. The bread will be very hot so it is
better if you switch off the oven and allow it cool for a short time.
The shortbreads become very brittle once they cool down completely. Take
out the mouth-watering butter shortbreads carefully from the cake tin.
